Montreal Dickens Fellowship
for the best of times

Sherry Steinberg has a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa. She studied violin in Paris and Tel-Aviv. She has been a violinist in the Minneapolis Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony, and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She joined the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in 1969 as Associate Principal Second Violin and played there for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Now she studies voice and sings solos in recitals, takes courses at MCLL, and gives Power Point presentations on different subjects. Dickens has always been one of her favorite authors.

“One does not usually think of Dickens in connection with music, but when I looked into his life and works for musical references, I discovered that there are many. Dickens was a lover of music, both classical and popular, and there are abundant fitting and humorous references to music in his writings.”…Sherry Steinberg
