Dickens Birthday Luncheon - February 7, 2017
Welcome to our Dickens' luncheon
celebrating the 205th anniversary of Dickens' birthday
"Place Dickens" within L'Usine de Spaghetti provides a lovely environment for our luncheon
salad bar
Donna is standing against one of the stone walls. Shelves of antique books and old photos add the perfect ambience for our luncheon.
Margaret, Susan, Ellie stand in another corner of the room
16 of us gathered in the
cozy back room
Ellie welcomed everyone and gave an overview of the year to date and a preview of things to come
Louise toasted the Montreal branch of the Dickens Fellowship
Judith gave us a lively and entertaining reading and presentation on "Grip", the raven, and on the history of ravens in general
Sylvia gave a warm and insightful toast to the "Immortal Memory" of Charles Dickens
and a warm tribute to Ellie for her leadership
Louise presented yet another spectacular birthday cake, this one bearing the image of a Royal Doulton Dickens character plate.
Margaret dazzled us with her reading from Barnaby Rudge, making the characters come alive.
Wilfrid topped off the reading with an emotion filled selection about Barnaby himself
In honour of our fifth anniversary, Louise presented Ellie, on behalf of the members
a beautiful ceramic toby jug of "The Highwayman", found at the Finnegan's Treasure Hunt
A good time was had by all.
